The Opioid of Power

There has been so much press and wringing of hands about the opioid abuse problem that something else has become clear.  Establishment politicians in Washington and State-wide have a terrible addiction as well.  It’s the addiction to power and a lifestyle inaccessible to a regular citizen in America.

The vitriol and hatred being spewed by both sides is simply one of the withdrawal symptoms from living in a state of euphoria and privilege.  And we, the people, have been the “physicians” and “pharmaceutical agents” who have encouraged and supported their habit. With the desperation of addicts, they will lie, steal and destroy to get the “opioid” of power that they want and need.  They will say anything to make the voter believe that your welfare is the only reason for their selfless act of running for office.  Each election they tell us that this time it will be different and we keep giving them another chance. It takes lots of work to look up their voting records and listen to all their speeches and comments…each one contrived to speak to a specific population of voters and many times contradictory.

Donald Trump blew their cover, called their bluff and threatened to make them go cold turkey.  He  exposed the corruption and collusion within the establishment to keep you subservient.  He opened the eyes and ears of John Q. American to the lies, distortions, hypocrisy and false promises.  This has caused the withdrawal symptoms to begin…teary eyes, mood swings, hallucinations, vulgar attacks, and desperation.  They shout nonsense, make up stories and do anything…ANYTHING…that will reverse the loss of their “drug of choice”--power.

 The Curse of Power

When is the last time you heard your teenager laugh out loud?  Oh, they laugh, but usually at the expense of someone else.  How many of the games they play consist of anger and violence?  My 8-year-old granddaughter talks about dying at the hands of some electronic enemy.  How many of the TV shows you watch are violent and angry?  Have you been desensitized by watching NCIS and FBI actors shoot automatic weapons into houses and cars?  If you say no, you are not being honest.  Add to this, minute-by-minute media coverage of real time events and you’ll begin to understand how our world has become hateful, distrustful and violent.

You allow your children to be influenced by this toxic defiance and violence, yet demand that they be subservient and grovel before ever fringe group that demands attention and devotion to its cause.  You teach them to accept without question every new “victim” group and every demand from a generation that’s looking for a way to stand out from the crowd…to make a statement that they have power.  You teach them to be politically correct…in other words…weak.  You take away their ability to think clearly by demanding that they believe without question and worship each new group that considers themselves marginalized.  “Damn the science, we’ll tell you what to believe.”  This evil has infiltrated our schools and churches to the extent that what’s really important no longer matters…math, science, reading...and common sense.

This new marginalization is nothing more than a generation inventing a way to define their power and make them visible.  The 1960’s produced “flower children” who questioned everything.  They were evident from their garish dress and defiance of social norms.  Their“free love” mantra changed the course of future generations, and not in a good way; however, they did not demand that laws be created to certify the validity of their movement.  No one was forced to believe as they did, or accept them as normal, rational thinkers.  Today, each new aberration is forced upon our young children before they can develop the skill necessary to determine its validity and make good choices for their own happiness and wellbeing.  You’ve taught them that the only way they can have value is to claim some unique status that sets them apart from everyone else; then to demand that everyone acknowledge and support their choice to be different.

God asks that we love our neighbor and that should be sufficient, if obeyed.  Our neighbors, however, want more.  In other words, we’ve created a world where we must feel guilty about being happy and grateful for our lives, until all fringe groups are validated and we are enslaved to their ideology.
